Performance Improvement of Flux Switching Permanent Magnet Wind Generator Using Magnetic Flux Barrier Design

Flux-switching permanent magnet (FSPM) machines have attracted significant research attention in the field of wind power generation. In this study, utilization a magnetic flux barrier to improve performance nine-phase FSPM generator designed for low-speed applications is conducted. The proposed approach involves introducing barriers different topologies conventional and analyzing their using 2D finite element simulations. Results suggested that |-shaped exhibited highest among other topologies, making them appropriate choice generator. geometry was further optimized response surface methodology maximize generator’s performance. exhibits decrease cogging torque, achieving remarkable reduction up 23.7%, while maintaining electromotive force. Moreover, it shows eddy-current loss, with noteworthy 51%. Additionally, improvements were demonstrated terms electromagnetic torque ripple, output power, efficiency. Details on physical reasoning behind these been provided. Overall, inserted has potential meet demands generation effectively.
